Uptown was originally outside the city limits of Dallas, and was home to those who were not welcome in the Dallas. Now, Uptown is a pedestrian-friendly neighborhood with urban, mixed-use buildings. Located just to the Northeast of downtown Dallas, the area of Uptown has experienced a surge of residential growth. This, along with shops, restaurants, and nightclubs, has made Uptown the place to live for young professionals in Dallas.
Uptown includes the neighborhoods of State Thomas, West Village, LoMac, and McKinney Avenue.
The West Village Shopping Center in Uptown has a wide variety of stores and restaurants. Some of the shopping in the area includes: Ann Taylor Loft, Banana Republic, Borders, Brooks Brothers, Epic Apparel, Gap, Lucky Brand Jeans, Polo Ralph Lauren, and Transit Bicycle Co. West Village also offers a wide assortment of dining and nightlife, including: Cru Wine Bar, Edohana Sushi Express, Grimaldi’s, Lemon Bar, The Magnoia Theater, Mi Cocina, OrangeCup, PD Johnson’s, Seis Segundos Lounge, Social House, Taco Diner, The Fish, and Village Burger Bar.
